Arizona Bankruptcy Attorney tells you what to do When You're Sued in Arizona

Well, first, start breathing again.

Your first lawsuit, or service of that lawsuit upon you, is a rite of passage like Schlager saber at Heidelberg University.

And it's about as scary, the first time you get sued.

I know that partly because the normal response to being served with a lawsuit is to put it in a drawer and work hard to forget it.

That works out badly, because that approach normally leads to noticing that your paycheck is short, because it's being garnished. And there's now a lien on your house where there wasn't one before.

First, write the date you were served on the face of the suit, and then take all the papers with which you were served with you to a lawyer who has a rating of 10 on AVVO.com. If there's an underlying contract or agreement you signed, take that also.

Try to find a lawyer who deals with lawsuits in that area, but the lawyer can steer you to correct tool for the job if he or she is an AVVO 10.

But don't ignore it. I'll blog more about this, but it's common enough that I wanted to mention it today.

Again, don't ignore it out of blind terror. That's a normal response, but you're smart enough to write the date you were served on the face of the complaint, and then to go to AVVO.com and search for an AVVO 10 rated lawyer who does freebie first interviews.

And that lawyer will tell you if he's the right tool for the job or whether you should call Gerald or Mary.

Testimonials

I brought a matter to Joseph and he not only answered my questions but went above and beyond helping me. Instead of taking my money at first and asking questions later, he did quite the opposite. I've never had a more pleasant experience with a lawyer talking to me in a language I could understand.
